Quarterly Update  Winter 2014

From the Desk of... Tom Quale

Close your eyes and think of Sarasota. Your immediate thoughts are beautiful white beaches, cultural activities and wealth. In the early 2000’s, there was tremendous real estate appreciation and an environment where community banks thrived. During the recession, this area was one of the hardest hit with significant decreases in real estate values which reduced the number of community banks. Now that the economy is improving, individuals and businesses are seeking solid banking relationships. Opportunity! Bay Cities Bank is pleased to open an Loan Production Office in the heart of downtown Sarasota. I am joined by a well known group of bankers – Sean Powers, Commercial Lender, Linda Braithwaite, Treasury Management and Darleen Corbett, Executive Assistant. We have worked together for several years and we are actively growing a strong customer base for Bay Cities Bank.

It is an understatement to say that our team is thrilled to join Bay Cities. We have a long history with several members of Senior Management and Board Members, so we knew that the culture and philosophy would be a great fit for us and our customers. This has been validated many times during our initial weeks. The Board and bank employees have made us and our customers feel welcome.

We encourage you to visit our new office if you are in the Sarasota area. If you have friends or business acquaintances in the area, please ask them to stop by or give us a call. Everyone should have a good banker!

Highpoint Tower Technology, Inc

In 1967, Robert C. Gunther and his father Frank A. Gunther founded Highpoint Tower Technology, Inc. – the genesis of today’s tower transmission industry – to develop, construct and manage tower sites for radio and the fledgling television industry. Frank Gunther was one of America’s radio pioneers and the original developer of short wave radio equipment. In 1928, he worked with the pioneer and developer of FM radio, Edwin H. Armstrong, in the first public demonstration of Frequency Modulation (FM) transmission. Frank also installed the 600 meter transmitter-receiver in the sea plane used by Amelia Earhart in 1928. He continued to be involved in many historical developments in the industry and received numerous accolades and awards.

Today, Mr. Robert C. Gunther and his wife, Jayne Gunther, continue the business with the same dedication and skill of his father. Highpoint Tower Technologies is one of the premier telecommunications tower development and management companies in the industry. They locate, develop, license, fund, and manage tower sites without signal disruption for clients such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX Broadcasting, WOR, AT&T, and Motorola, to name a few. Highpoint Tower works with each individual broadcaster to design a model that will save client capital, reduce client recurring expenses and create revenue opportunity. These models rely on our already proven skills in real estate acquisition, zoning, architectural design, environmental engineering, construction and tower/site management.
