From the Desk of... Gwynn Davey

I think bankers are negatively stereotyped. We are typically thought of as straight- laced, stodgy, uptight and downright no fun. Since I was given a pad and paper (oops ...an ipad) and was asked to write an article, I thought I would do a little “myth busting” to show the world (or at least anyone who may read this) that bankers do have a sense of humor and are really fun, entertaining people. Knowing your banker (and the banker knowing you and your business) is critically important. I compiled a Top Ten list to share with you.

"Top Ten Things You Should Know about Your Banker"

#10  They have nicknames like "Big Red", "Coffster", "Johnnie O" and "JZ".
#9  They own clothes with colors other than blue, black, brown and grey.
#8  Banker's hours are an urban legend.
#7  They do not like wearing suits and would ban all suits, if possible.
#6  Wolf of Wall Street is about Investment Bankers NOT Community Bankers.
#5  If your Banker says "It's a no brainer", run. (I assume that you want a banker with a brain)
#4  Acronyms are a banker’s second language.
#3  Being out of the office on a "site visit" could have multiple meanings.
#2  They blame everything on the credit department.

and the #1 thing that you should know about your banker...
#1  All bankers are not created equal.

If I have you thinking "Do I know my banker?" than good! Your banking relationships should be a well thought out decision. Not one made strictly on pricing or proximity to a branch office.

One of the primary reasons that Bay Cities Bank has been successful is because of its bankers. It hires and retains top talent insisting that its bankers be problem solvers and not order -takers. Emphasizing responsiveness and delivering on its promises. We make it easy for business owners to do business with us and do not take client relationships for granted.

We strive to nurture strong relationships with our clients and to create opportunities for new relationships. If you do not know any of our bankers, I encourage you to call our office and get to know us.
